Yoga Cares Well for Intimate Partner Violence is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors and co-survivors of IPV on their healing journey through wellness tools such as somatic yoga, meditation, EFT and simple breathing techniques.
Gentle Somatic Yoga.
What is gentle somatic yoga, and how does it help in trauma healing?
Gentle Somatic Yoga reconnects the mind and body by releasing stored emotional and physical trauma. Gentle Somatic Yoga involves slow, intuitive movements designed to reset the nervous system.
Gentle Somatic Yoga is known to be beneficial for people experiencing PTSD, chronic pain, and anxiety. GSY allows participants to regain control over their bodily sensations, fostering a sense of safety and emotional resilience.
Simple Breathing techniques aid with helping to regulate the nervous system.
Simple breathing techniques such as "Simhasana" in yoga, is a breathing technique that not only engages the physical body but also serves as a powerful tool for emotional release. When practiced correctly, it can enhance respiratory function, improve vocal clarity, and promote emotional well-being.
Meditation Techniques.
Trauma-Informed Considerations:Offer modifications when mindfully meditating for different levels of comfort levels:
• Walking Meditation
• Affirmations “I AM SAFE”, “I will bravely use my Voice”, and “I own my power” (personalized affirmations)
• Healing Sound Practices (Choose music or sounds that are not triggering)
What Is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as "tapping”. This is a technique that aims to relieve emotional distress and promote healing.
EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or emotion.

Yoga Cares Well Commitment to Addressing Intimate Partner Violence.
Yoga Cares Well for Intimate Partner Violence, as part of our mission to combat intimate partner violence, is dedicated to the memory of my beloved sister, Ronnesha Simms, who tragically lost her life as a result of such violence. Her strength and spirit inspire me to create a healing space for survivors and co-survivors, fostering awareness and providing essential support through yoga, meditation, breath-work, EFT tapping and advocacy.
Through our initiatives, we aim to honor Ronnesha's legacy by advocating for those affected by intimate partner violence and by offering tools for healing and empowerment. Together, we can work towards a future free from violence and full of compassion.
